SARAH WILLIAMS TAKEN BY DEATH

HAD LIVED HERE 30 YEARS- FUNERAL AT WESLEYAN METHODIST CHURCH.

Mrs. Sarah J Williams, 77, widow of the late Joseph Williams, died suddenly at her home on Maple Avenue, about 5 o'clock Friday morning, from a heart attack.

She had been ailing for several days but was able to be about her home, retiring at her usual time Thursday night.

Early Friday morning she aroused her niece, who had been staying with her, saying she was feeling bad, and died within a short time. Her husband preceded her in death seven years ago.

A native of Kentucky, she was born Nov. 24, 1862. She came to Jonesboro with her family about thirty years ago, where she has since resided, and won the respect of all who knew her. She was a charter member of the Jonesboro Wesleyan Methodist church, where her funeral services were held Sunday afternoon.

Rev. Loren Van Matre, of Marion, former pastor here, preached the sermon, with Rev. Carl Beaver assistingin the service. Burial was made in Park Cemetery, at Fairmount.

Surviving are the following chidren: Albert Williams, of Terre Haute; Oscar Williams, of Detroit; Clarence and Claude Williams, of Jonesboro; Webster Williams and Mrs. Letha Williamson, of Mill Township, and Mrs. Nellie Buck, of Fairmount. Also two step-sons, 44 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
