I am looking for my g-g grandfather Arthur W. MERWIN, who died in 1852. He had been a carriage dealer in Louisville, KY. He was married to Anna L. CHARTRES.

Their son, Thorburn Chartres MERWIN was my g-grandfather. He was born in Louisville, KY 12-25-1845. He was around 7 when his father died, and Thorburn and his mother moved near Austin, Mississippi in 1860.

Thorburn was educated at South Hanover College in Kentucky, but when the war broke out, joined the Confederate forces as a member of Major Corley's cavalry.

Thorburn's first wife was Laura Campbell (b 1852, d 6/18/1877)of Woodford County, KY. They married 12/20/1874. They had one child, Olivia.

He married again, 5/28/1879, Emily Govan, of Lee County, Arkansas.

Any information regarding parentage/family for Arthur W. MERWIN or Anna L. CHARTRES, or siblings of Thorburn would be appreciated.
