I am looking for information on Dr. Nathan M. Low and Mary Stephens(Stevens). Nathan came from Albany, NY in approx. 1825 and settled in Elizabeth, Harrison Co., IN. He practiced medicine there until his death in April 1865. He married Mary Stephens(Stevens)in 1826 in Harrison Co. There home was a farm adjacent to Rose Hill Cemetery. He is buried there.
Their son, George Thomas Low(e) was born in 1845. He worked the family farm until 1863 when he joined Company M, 3rd Indiana Cavalry and fought with Sherman's army throughout Georgia, North and South Carolina. He returned from the war to Elizabeth in April 1865 on furlough shortly after the death of his father. He then married Martha Detrick(Deterick) in November 1865. They lived on a portion of the family farm, the adjoining parcel occupied by George's brother John. In the late 1880's early 1890's George and his wife moved to New Albany, Floyd Co., IN where they opened a grocery business. George had continuing problems from injuries received in the war. He died in 1910. Martha died in 1933. Both are buried in the New Albany National Cemetery.
Any further information on this family would be appreciated. I will gladly share any information that I have.
