Looking for info on J. J. Hoback born in 1840s, Indiana. Married to Sarah Gearhart?
Had a son James Harlen Hoback, my great grand father. Family moved to North Dakota then Alberta, Canada in late 1800s or 1900.

I should have read this more closely Catherine Hoback married John Stephenson in Crawford Indiana. Her parents were Wilhelm Hoback and Margaret Gutekunst they go back to Wytheville, Virginia. There is more. Kaye

I have tried twice now to get you a message posted. I have several pages of things on the Hobacks/Hoeback/Hobaugh etc. The name Nancy apprears several times haven't found Catherine or Mark. I missed that name when I went through the County page. However Catherine is listed as being married to John Stephenson not Stephens. The Hobacks were originially in Virginia well really Germany, then to Tenn where my husband great grandmother was born. His grandmother was born in Laural County Ky. and his great great grandmother and her oldest son is listed in the 1900 Clay county Indiana census. My email is cehaughee@hotmail.com. Will share what I have. Kaye.

I am looking for references to John STEPHENS who married Catherine HOBACK on June 23, 1820 in Crawford County, Indiana. Catherine's last name may have been spelled HOBOUGH. I do not know the names of their parents. There are no STEPHENS or HOBACK families listed in the 1820 census for Crawford County. There is, however, a listing for an Andrew HOBOUGH. Could he be Catherine's relative? There is a marriage listing in the same county for Nancy HOBACK who married a Matheny (his second marriage) in 1825. Could she be related to Catherine? There is also a reference to a Mark HOBACK who was murdered during that time period in the same county. He was a veteran of the War of 1812. Could Mark HOBACK be related to Catherine? Is there a connection to my HOBACK family in Crawford County, Indiana and those in Hardin and neighboring counties in Kentucky? Thank you.
