Looking for information about the PAYNE family of Lawrence County, IN John and Rebecca Payne came to Indiana abt 1923 from NC. Children were George b 1802, Lydia b 1804, Issac b 1807, John Jr b 1809, Susanah b 1811, Mary (Polly) b 1813, Hosea b 1815, William b 1818, Ely b 1820, Abner b 1823, James b 1825, Meshack b 1828. Abner, James and Meshack were born in IN. George b. 14 May 1802 d 25 Jun 1866 was my ggg grandfather. George m Sarah Woody 5 Jun 1828. Sarah b 8 Feb 1811 NC
d 17 May 1850. My gg grandfather George Washington PAYNE b 20 Oct 1836 d 1936 was a preacher for the Methodist Espicopal Church. Burial is said to be in the United Methodist Church Cemetery Mitchell, Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. George PAYNE married Dinah Fanbion sometime after 1850.
