My great grandmother from Germany first married Frederick AUERT; they had three children surviving: Fred, Mollie, and John. In 1858-1861 the family was living in Cloverport, KY (Breckinridge Co). By 1867 my great grandmother and her 3 AUERT children were living with her new husband (a widower) in Evansville, IN.
Family story only says "Frederick AUERT was Maria Elisabetha BRUCKER's first husband." It seems about 1865 he died or deserted the family. No burial in Breckinridge County was found for him. I have also explored Perry Co, IN, and Warrick Co, IN, for clues (across the Ohio river from Cloverport).
He was probably from Wiehe, Saxony, Germany, and a shoemaker by trade, arriving in NY (single) about 1853. What happened to Frederick Auert?
