Would be most appreciative for you doing so! Am afraid that I have very
little information on family in Spencer or Perry Counties. Have many, many,
many families in Crawford Co., IN, down to the present day who are also
descendants of my family's direct ancestral lines, even though my direct
line left there shortly following the Civil War.
Am now into my twentieth year of doing family research and seek to enjoin
other active researchers of our mutual ancestral families in working to
compile as large and as verifiable a base of information in the coming years
on our mutual families' "Immigrant Ancestors and their Descendants!" for the
benefit of future generations of family researchers. I wish for no one to
ever have to spend the time, effort, and money that I have over the past
twenty years to do no more than duplicate what we already believe to be fact
based on the preponderance of evidence!
Currenty have information on more than 81,000 descendants of the more than
325 ancestral family lines our family descends from. I seek scruting from
other researchers for corroboration, verification, and additional material
whenever possible. Am willing to share anything that I may have with other
mutual family researchers.

Looking for descendants of Hannah Catherine OWENS / CHASTAIN. Her name may
have been Catherine Hannah. She married Benjamin CHASTAION in Scott
County on Feb. 4, 1838. She was born circa 1820. She died Dec. 14,
1869. She applied for a pension from her deceased son, Matthew CHASTAIN,
who was killed in the Civil War. She applied for the pension in Trimble
County Kentucky, saying she was living on the Carrollton Rd. at Bedford,
Ky., but she gave her postal address as Saluda Twp., Jefferson County, IN.
She said it was about 20 miles from Madison, and about six miles
from the Ohio River on the Bethlehem Rd. She and Benjamin lived mostly in
Jefferson County from the time of their marriage until her death in 1869.
They had ten children. I would like to know who Hannah's parents were
and where her grave is located.

Jacob HANKS. They resided in Breckinridge, KY but because of the ferry
that took people to Indiana I think they could have been married in Crawford
or Perry County Indiana.

there is no researcher associated with the JONES surname. I have done
some research regarding that name in Crawford County in the post 1867
time period. The JONES surname is also linked with the PADGIT, LAHUE,
LANG and BAKER surnames by marriage in Crawford county. JONES is a
surname assumed by George PENN in 1867. He was born as George PENN in
New Jersey in 1846. I am trying to obtain additional information
regarding more distant family ancestors.

I have traced my gg grandmother, Narcissa Saphronia CAMPBELL b. 1/22/1837 and
her older sister, Amelia b. 5/11/1832, from Phillips Co. Ark. to Crawford Co.
In. via an unnamed aunt from Leavenworth, In. who brought them to Crawford to
live in the early or mid 1840's.
Amelia married John H. GILMORE 7/1/1855 in Crawford Co. by J.L.McNAGHTEN, JP.
The two sisters show up in Breckenridge Co. Ky. when at the age of 23,
Narcissa married John Henry CAMPBELL, John H. GILMORE going the surety bond
and the marriage being held at the residence of John H. & Amelia GILMORE. I
lose them again until their deaths show up still in Ky. but in Hancock Co.
The girls' father may have been a Wm. CAMPBELL (no relation to John Henry
CAMPBELL) b. 1817 in Va.
I'm looking for any additional info on the girls, the unnamed aunt, John H.
GILMORE, and Wm. CAMPBELL. Will gladly trade any info I have with other
CAMPBELL researches if any of these names or places ring a bell with you.

The bible was last seen in your area via affadavit in 1832. It was a hundred
year old bible at that time. It details the GALLIMORE Family Tree. Linking the
Ohio/Indiana Group with the Carolina/Va/Tn Group. There were three fellows
that started out in Salisbury and Granville County during the French and Indian

Indiana to Crawford County, Indiana. The obituary for my great great
grandfather, William ELKINS, stated that "He was born in Crawford
county,Nov. 26, 1825 and came to this county (Pike) many years ago." This
obituary was in the Petersburg, In. newspaper, dated 26 Jan. 1920.
My first cousin, Pat (ELKINS) ROSE and I, plan on visiting Crawford county
and continuing our search. When I found your e-mail address while
searching on the internet I decided to contact you and see if you could
offer any advise as to where we might go to find information about our gg
grandfather.
