I am looking for information on Indiana Ann Lane born in Harrison County Indiana 6-2-1823. I have had no success in locating her parents names. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. I can not find a birth certificate and I know I am taking a wild stab at the census records. Perhaps if there is a Lane family in the Harrison County census with a female child around the age of 5-6 maybe even 7 this will help a little. I have notes that show her family was originally from VA.

Hi:
Unless Catherine Carter was head of household on either the 1830 or 1840 Census she will not be listed. Only the Heads of Household were listed on the U.S. Census until 1850. The Census Enumerator would enter the number of males from 0-5 years, up to 10 years old, etc. And females in the household were recorded the same way without names being recorded.
You might try to find out if there are records for early will in Harrison County and look for anyone with the surname Carter. If her father had a will recorded, she might be mentioned by her first name or a diminutive, such as Cathy or Kate.
Good Luck!
