Saw your post. Its been a while. Dorcas is listed in the Washington County, Census for 1840. Believe she to have been related to a Alexander White. Do a yahoo search on Alexander White- AKA Black Alec. Also brothers to Nathaniel were William F. Banks, Berry Banks,James Banks, John Banks & Henry Banks. Berry you may have already- he migrated to KS with the families. Email me when you get some time so I can get you updated information.

I am looking for the father of both Jane White and Nathaniel Banks. Jane White was born in Green Co. Ky, in 1818. and Nathaniel Banks b. abt 1812 in VA. Jane's mother was Dorcas White, born abt. 1800. Jane's grandfather was Charles Hammond. Jane married Nathaniel Banks, in 1834, in Washington County, Ind. Jane and Nathaniel raised their children in Laporte, Ind and then moved the family to Kansas around 1870's.
