Thanks John for answering.
Can trace my Hamiltons back to Virginia in the 1700's. (John Hamilton and Esther Sampson, from Bedford Virgina.)
My grandfather Samuel Hamilton married a Luella Brown in 1915 in Morgan County Kentucky.
She was Indian. Always thought she was Cherokee. But now we're not sure what tribe. We also thought she was born in Oregon but now we think it may have been Arizona. It is very hard to find info.
I would like to do the DNA but neither of my brothers seem very interested.
But thanks for answering

If you have had a DNA test there is a group of Hamiltons that requires registering with them, but has loads of Hamilton information. It is a very active group.
I am a Robertson, and I connect to the Hamiltons.
(Not that I can find anythig in particular on mine, either of them, prior to a marriage of Joseph Rainey Robertson and Susannah Johnson, 26 Nov 1795, Madison Co. Ky)
Hamiltons show up clear back in the 1740's in Virginia, but they are before mine could have come from Scotland. (Both Hamiltons and Robertsons are found, mostly from Scotland, and even Ireland, for my DNA matches.)
It may help you to look at "Goochland, VA", and possibly Hamilton, Lanark, Scotland.
Good luck in your searches. John

Looking for info on Luella-Louella-Ella Brown Hamilton. bob-1902-dod-1945. Married Samuel Hamilton 6-28-1915 in Morgan County Kentucky. Samuel is a decendant of Benjamin s Hamilton.
L. Brown is said to have been a Cherokee Indian.
If anyone has any info I would be very grateful.
Thank You
