The K & I didn't cross from Jeffersonville. It crossed from New Albany (Vincennes St ended at the bridge). My Dad also worked for the K&I from 1948 till 1980.

I would recommend going to the Filson Club for information. They have lots of information concerning Louisville history. Also, that bridge is privately owned. I am not sure who ownes it but tax records in either Ky or IN should get you that information and the owners may have the history. My father worked for the K&I railroad all his life.

ELH: I do not recall the year given in an article
that I read recently, but you can find a lot of
info re: the K&I RR bridge by looking at the site
for Louisville KY. It gives a lot of history and
interesting places. If you don't find it, please
e-mail me and I'll try to help you find it. My
father worked on that bridge when it was rebuilt...he became an ironworker for life!
