I started telephoning various McMonigles in and around Mauckport. They were up in years and didn't really seem to understand what I was looking for, but one woman told me to get ahold of her cousin living in Michigan who had done a lot of work on the McMonigles of Harrison County. Unfortunatly, she couldn't find his telephone number for me. Do you live in Michigan??

My great-grandmother, Noma McMonigle (11/15/1889), was born and raised in Harrison County Indiana. Her father was Henry Clay McMonigle and her mother was Maria or Mary Faith. My great-grandmother married a Mr. Plaskett when she was around 14 to 16 years of age and had his son in 1905 (name of Harrold or Alburn). In the 1920 census for Louisville, Kentucky, I found her living with her mother and several brothers (she had about 8 siblings (she was the youngest. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone??

I am in the process of identifying the descendants of five McMonigle siblings (four of whom made Harrison County, Indiana their homes at one time or another). They are: 1-Daniel McMonigle(1803-1880)& Nancy Jacobs (1805-????), 2-Sarah McMonigle (1805-1887) & John P. Jacobs (1802?-1817/79), 3-Thomas J. McMonigle (1807-1889) & Matilda Applegate (1813-1846)/Indiana Applegate (1807-1849)/Sarah A. Littell (1826-1878), 4-Catherine McMonigle (1809-1895)& Irwin Applegate, Sr. (1806-1802). Many of the historical surnames of Harrison County have married into descendant McMonigle families through the years. I would like to communicate with anyone who is familiar with, knowlingly related to, or believe they may be related to any of these family lines. I have identified close to 7,000 descendants of these four siblings to-date (including spouses)with connections to many of the states.
