Hello all,
I just joined this group, and wanted to send my request.
I am doing research on the 49th Indiana Civil War Regiment.
If anyone out there has any information on the 49th, including any of
it's members, please let me know.
I am looking for letters, photos, diaries, biographies, anything at all
on the 49th, and or it's members.
Please check out our webpage at the address below!
(Also if you are interested in Re-enacting, check out the webpage as
well)

Hello,
Since so many people have been adding thier names to the list, I thought
I would add another topic.
I have a listing of men recruited from southeastern Indiana for the
civil war, belonging to the 49th Indiana.
There are several surnames that have been mentioned that are on these
lists. I do not have time to cross check
each list you all put out against mine, (after all, there are several of
you with long list!)
So, please feel free to examine the list of soldiers, and see if you
recognize any names.
If you do, please E-mail me, I would love to gather as much information
on these men as possible,
so if you have a ancestor on my lists, or even have a question about the
Civil War, feel free to write!
The address can be found below!
Thank you, and good luck in 'your' search!

First of all,
Thank you very much for the kind words.
Yes, I have worked hard on my page, and love to share the info I have
found with
others.
The listing I have for Isaac Breeden is below

in Company A
Breeden, Isaac N ? Feb 3, 1864 Veteran; Mustered out
Sept 13, 65

in Company G
Breeden, isaac N Orange Co November 21 Veteran;
transferred to co A, 49th Ind

Let me explain this just a bit.
After the men were in the regiment for a few years, they were asked to
rejoin the unit. Most of the 49th
did not, but enough did to form what was called a Veteran's Regiment.
Also attached to this regiment is some late recruits. There was not
enough men to keep full companies, so generally they were transferred to
another company. In this case From Company G to A.
I hope this explains a bit about this!

Also, if anyone is interested,
you can find basic unit history's of Indiana Regiments at

Indiana in the Civil War
http://www.thnet.com/~liggetkw/incw/cw.htm

This is an excellent site for basic information on Indiana Civil War
Regiments.

Again,
Thank you for the kind Comments!
