I am seeking information, desperately (but who of us isn't), to prove
something.
Rebecca ROWZEE married a Nicholas B. WATSON sometime before 1860, they
were in the 1860 census with a child Mary C. and a Minerva E. listed
with them, with Minerva only being a small baby. Then we get to
1870 census, Rebecca was married to John J. CONRAD, and she shows up with
Mary C., but Minerva is not listed. Mary C. is also listed as being a
CONRAD, not a WATSON.
The family has a picture of a handsome gentleman in a "Yankee" uniform
with a medical "Red Cross" band on his arm. People in the family have
stated that this is a picture of John J. CONRAD, however, I tend to
believe it is, in fact, Nicholas B. WATSON. My reason for coming to
this conclusion is simple, I simply cannot find John J. CONRAD in any
of the records for being in the Civil War. However, the time period
is canny on the 1860 census Rebecca being with Nicholas, and in the
1870 census Rebecca is with John.
John J. CONRAD and Rebecca Rowzee Watson CONRAD died in 1881, within
a few months of each other. Leaving children orphaned and farmed out
with friends and family. I'd sure like to put a least a little POSITIVE
notes in my family history.

My dad was bred, born and raised in Leavenworth, Crawford County, Indiana.
Forrest Edward Myers, the son of George Lafayette Myers and Cora Ellen
Conrad, born April 7, 1926 (although his birth announcement in the
Crawford County Democrat has him 1) as a female, and 2) being born on the
4th of April ::grin::). He has 1 brother, Paul Myers (still living in
Crawford County, near English), and 1 sister, Bessie Beatrice Myers (living
in Florida). Forrest, at present, is living in Tennessee.
George Lafayette Myers is the son of James Alonzo Myers and Malvina
Rose Gibson. Born in Leavenworth, Crawford County, Indiana the 13th
of August, 1892, he died in Corydon, Harrison County, Indiana in December
of 1982, and is buried in Leavenworth near his 2nd wife, Mabel. George
had one brother, James Setser Myers, and no sisters.
James Alonzo Myers, the son of Jackson Myers and Margaret Sumpter.
Jackson Myers, the son of James Myers and Sarah Kinnett
Malvina Rose Gibson, the daughter of Madison Gibson and Nancy Jane Carver.
Margaret Sumpter, the daughter of John Sumpter and Hannah Darby.
James Myers, the son of Lewis Myers and Catherine Susan ???.
....and the list goes on.
Hopefully I can find some long lost cousins out there.

At an early age Setser Myers served an appernticeship with the D. Allen Skiff
Co a boatbuilder in the early days of Leavenworth, Indiana. Setser learned his
trade well and after the 1937 flood he affiliated with The Stevenson Co. who
had purchased the assets of the D. Allen Skiff Co. Setser continued to work
at his trade until Aluminum and fiberglass materials virtually obsoleted the
use of wood to build boats. Setser finished his career with the
Louisville,Ky. District of the Corps Of Engineers as a Boatbuilder and
Carpenter.

I am searching for the following, in their associated Counties. Some names
you will find duplicated, mainly because these people didn't know what "stay
in one place" meant ::Grin::.
MEADE COUNTY - Carver, Conrad, Gibson
HARRISON COUNTY - Rowzee (Ronzee, and other various spellings), Conrad,
Davidson, Mills
CRAWFORD COUNTY - Conrad, Gibson, Myers, Mills, Davidson
PERRY COUNTY - Gibson
My father was born in Leavenworth, Crawford County, Indiana in 1926 and still
has family living up in that region of the country. I understand there is a
COLEMAN family reunion occuring on the 12th or 13th of October. I know we
are related in through the COLEMAN line somewhere as well, but have not
figured it out.

It is unknown where Jesse Carver lived prior to his marriage to Mary Hornbeck,
however, he's been located in LaRue County, KY, Meade County, KY, Harrison Co.,
Indiana, and Crawford County, Indiana (as well as other Indiana Counties not
included in the Kentuckiana locale).
