Brooks, Levi H.
Died May 14, 1947, Alton, Indiana.

Alton - Levi H. Brooks, son of Lyman and Rosey Brooks, was born on October 28, 1888, near here, and died unexpectedly at his home on May 14, at the age of 59 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War 1. At the time of his death, he was serving as trustee of Boone Township.

On March 20, 1918, he was married to Stella Mead, of Perry County. To this union was born: Robert, Ivan, Mildred and Joseph.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, a sister, Elsie; a brother, Samuel, and a son, Robert, who was killed in World War II, in action on Bataan, Philippine islands.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs Robert Fullenwider, of a former marriage; Ivan, Mildred and Joseph, all of Alton; two brother, Hiram Brooks, of Alton, and William Brooks, of Cape Sandy; two sisters, Mrs Bertha Purcell, of Bacon, and Mrs Rachel Campbell, of Alton; also six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Alton Baptist Church on Sunday, May 16. Burial was in Orchard Knob cemetery, near Alton. The Rev Jean Osborn.
