Hobbs, Belle
Died August 1, 1958, Alton, Indiana.

Alton - Belle Hobbs, daughter of Dr. Josephus and Annie G. Myers, was born February 8, 1883, at Magnet, and died at her home here on August 1, at the age of 75.

On April 25, 1931, she married Leroy Hobbs, who preceded her in death on June 24, 1947.

She is survived by two brothers, Ralph D. and John L. Myers, of Alton; a nephew, R. Joe Myers, of Osgood; a niece, Mrs Wilson E. Gibbs, of New Albany; two grand nieces, a grand nephew and a stepson, Allan L. Hobbs, of Michigan City.

She taught school 25 years previous to her marriage, mostly at Alton and is remembered with affection by a host of former pupils.

She joined the Alton Methodist Church in youth and remained true to that faith throughout life.

She was very active in church affairs and other good works, especially as Sunday school teacher and church organist as long as circumstances permitted.

She was a charter member and long time secretary and treasurer of the Alton Home Demonstration Club.

Extremely charitable and generous by nature, she was considerate of the welfare of others and was very little concerned with her own even to the close of her life.

Her record stands as her memorial and no better is required.

Final rites were held Sunday at the Baptist Church, with burial in the Orchard Knob cemetery.
