He had been sick but a few weeks. He had always enjoyed remarkable good health and was a very active man during his entire lifetime. He leaves four sons&nbsp;<strong>Charles, William, Edward<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>John Clark, Jr<\/strong>., and four daughters,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. D. M. Scott<\/strong>, of Kansas City;&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. W. J. Scott, Mrs. Lindsey Wade<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. J. D. Dempster<\/strong>, all grown, and his wife to mourn his death.&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Scott [Clark]<\/strong>&nbsp;was a farmer of the progressive, and driving order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Albany Daily Ledger 1 Dec 1909 p4 c5<br><strong>Venerable Mother of County Commissioner John L. Clark Passes Away<\/strong><br><strong>Mrs. Rebecca Clark<\/strong>, widow of&nbsp;<strong>John W. Clark<\/strong>, an old resident of the county and highly esteemed woman, died last night at her home in Greenville township. Her death was due to paralysis. She was eighty-five years of age and had lived in the county the greater part of her life.&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Clark<\/strong>&nbsp;was the venerable mother of County Commissioner&nbsp;<strong>John L. Clark<\/strong>.<br><strong>Mrs. Clark<\/strong>&nbsp;is survived by eight children, four sons and four daughters. They are&nbsp;<strong>Charles W., William H., John L.<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Clarence<\/strong>&nbsp;of this county;<strong>&nbsp;Mrs. D. M. Scott<\/strong>&nbsp;of Kansas City;&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. John Dean<\/strong>, of this county;&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Elizabeth Wade<\/strong>, of Borden; and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Mary Shuman<\/strong>, of this county.<br>During her long residence in this county&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Clark<\/strong>&nbsp;made many warm friends by whom she was dearly loved on account of her many Christian virtues.<br>The funeral will be held at 2 o\u2019clock tomorrow afternoon from the church at Galena, and the burial will be in the Galena Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public Press 7 Dec 1909 p5 c1<br><strong>Mrs. Rebecca M. Clark<\/strong>, mother of County Commissioner,&nbsp;<strong>John T. Clark<\/strong>, died last Wednesday at the home of her son,&nbsp;<strong>Edward Clark<\/strong>, between Galena and Navilleton. She was eighty-five years old and was the widow of&nbsp;<strong>John W. Clark<\/strong>. She is survived by her husband,&nbsp;<strong>Jesse M. Clark<\/strong>, a Greenville merchant, a son,&nbsp;<strong>Vernon Clark<\/strong>, daughters,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Leona B. Clark<\/strong>, Louisville, KY,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Charlotte Smith<\/strong>, Crawfordsville; and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Sylvia Richardson<\/strong>, Washington, Ohio; sisters,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Roscoe Wilson<\/strong>, New Albany,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Mable McCutcheon<\/strong>, Galena;&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Monroe Pitman<\/strong>, Lafayette, brothers,&nbsp;<strong>Homer &amp; Edgar Morris<\/strong>, Louisville, and two grandchildren. The body is at the Kahl Funeral home in Palmyra for funeral services at 2.30 PM Tuesday from the M. E. Clark<\/strong>, 82, died Wednesday night in her home in Galena following an illness from complication of diseases. The widow of&nbsp;<strong>William H. Clark<\/strong>, she is survived by three daughters,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Nettie Coffman<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Roger Jacobi<\/strong>, both of Greenville, and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. William Fertig<\/strong>, Galena; and son,&nbsp;<strong>Jesse M. Clark<\/strong>, also of Greenville. Funeral services will be held at one o\u2019clock Friday afternoon in the Galena M. E. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Albany Weekly Ledger 3 Sep 1926 p1B c2<br>Rites for&nbsp;<strong>William Clark<\/strong>, 70 years old, resident of the county who died suddenly of a heart attack Friday afternoon, was held at the Methodist Church at Galena at 2.30 o\u2019clock Sunday afternoon with burial in the Galena Cemetery.&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Clark<\/strong>&nbsp;was a native of Greenville Twp. He was the brother of&nbsp;<strong>C. E. Clark<\/strong>, a member of the board of County Commissioners. He leaves a widow, one son,&nbsp;<strong>Jesse Clark<\/strong>, and three daughters,&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Essie Fertig, Mrs. Eliza Jacobi<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. A. S. Coffman<\/strong>, eight grandchildren,&nbsp;<strong>Sylvia, Leona, Charlotte<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Vernon Clark<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Audrey Jacobi, William Fertig, Mrs. Clark Miller<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mrs. Nellie Prusch [Preusch]<\/strong>.
