His great grandmother,<br>who was living at the same time as Zebulon and Margaret (Patterson)<br>Leavenworth, said that the way Leavenworth Indiana was founded is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zebulon and Seth were going down the Ohio River and Zebulon<br>decided to stop along a beautiful area, a bend in the river.<br>Zebulon said that they&#8217;d stop there and build a town. Seth said<br>no, he wanted to go further down the river. An argument started<br>over this. During the dispute Seth was knocked out of the boat,<br>and Zebulon offered to help him back in&#8230; but Seth wanted no part<br>of his brothers help, he climbed back in on his own. Zebulon got<br>out of the boat, and began to explore the land. Seth went on.
