His home was in Columbus to which city his bady was taken by the five o&#8217;clock train Sunday afternoon. The decedent was seventy -two years old and was born in Milton Ky (this is a misprint as John G was born in Baden Germany before his father John B Lay came to America). He and Mr. Matt Hoffman learned the barber&#8217;s trade at the same time in the shop of the late Mr. Jacob Weber, who kept near Broadway on West Main Street.<br>He moved to Columbus many years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
