I found a Nicolas MCCARTY at this link:

His father was William (there is no name for his mother). This link shows that Nicolas and his wife, Mary had 10 children and one of his sons was Thomas and another was John (in Crawford, IN). This must be your family?

I am related to another group of the MCCARTY family (from James to Cornelius to William T. to Sarah) that once lived in Virginia and then moved to Kentucky and eslewhere. I also have relatives from Crawford, Indiana (their last name was GIBSON. I am searching for information on Thomas Jefferson GIBSON, who was a state legislator in the late 1800s.

I hope this link gives you some additional information about your family.

I'm tracing the family patriarch, Nicholas McCarty. My line descends from his son, John. Most of my research comes from my cousin, James A. McCarty in Gary, IN. He thinks the family came over from County Cork, Ireland in the late 1600s, after the Battle of Boyne. In the New World, the family travels from Virginia in the mid 1700s through the various parts of states that began as Virginia (PA, WV, KY) to Jefferson Co., KY in the late 1700s. Then across the Ohio to Crawford Co., IN in the early 1800s, and finally up to Tippecanoe Co., IN (my birth place) in the 1920s. Nicholas is very illusive however. To complicate matters, some say Thomas is the family patriarch, not Nicholas.
