HURT BY EXPLOSIVE FRUIT

English, Indiana, Aug. 3-Riley Stalcup, a merchant and retired politician living near Fargo, was severely injured by the explosion of a large jar of preserved fruit. Mrs. Stalcup had lost several jars of last year’s fruit and concluded to throw the whole collection away, but Stalcup preserved them to be used in certain experiments he was making. An eight-gallon jar exploded at least disfiguring him for life.
