The 1850 Earthquake

The 1859 earthquake was an unwelcome visitant. It came with a single sharp shock at five minutes past 8 o’clock in the evening of April 4th, and was experienced throughout the State, though no damage worse than fright was done. In Louisville, however, the people were so much alarmed by it that many rushed terror stricken into the streets.
