New Albany Ledger 11 Aug 1884 p4 c4: Mrs. Clark Lamb marries Josiah Lamb; . . .
[This refers to Jane (Miller) Lamb, widow of Adam Clark Lamb

Public Press 20 Sep 1888 p 1:
On Thursday the 20th. Inst. At the residence of Josiah Lamb, an old and respected citizen of Greenville Township, Floyd Co., there was a pleasant gathering of children and friends to the number of 35 or 40 to celebrate the 89th birthday of the paternal ancestor. Owing to the unfortunate union with his last wife and the charge she brought against him, which was published in some of the New Albany and Louisville papers of non-provision, habitual drunkenness, etc., no doubt caused many persons unacquainted with him to believe the story. The charges have not the shadow of a foundation in them but were made for an evil and selfish purpose, as his friends and acquaintances well know. His age and general appearance denote a sober life. He looks very little older than he did thirty years ago. The old gentleman was the recipient of many presents from his children, showing their love and respect of him. He has raised a large family, accumulated considerable property and money. May his birthdays yet be many and his last days his pleasantest are the wishes of his many friends.

New Albany Newespaper September 6, 1881 p4 c4:
The Lamb Family of Floyd County. The following appears in todays Indianapolis Journal:
I have been a citizen of New Albany and Floyd county for sixty seven years, and now in feeble health. Was born in Randolph County, North Carolina, in 1799. The Lamb family originated from five brothers-Cornelius, Esau, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, who emigrated from the city of London, England, and settled in Randolph county, North Carolina in the year 1750. They were all of the Society of Friends as was as commonly called, Quakers and as far as I know, their descendants are all republicans.
As stated by Josiah Lamb

New Albany Newspaper September 5, 1894 p5 c3:
Josiah Lamb, residing on the Paoli Pike, seven miles west of here, is one of the oldest persons in the state. He has a family record dating back to 1750 when five brothers came from London and located in North Carolina. Mr. Lamb was born in that state, Randolph County, near the city of Raleigh, Sept. 20th, 1799. He came to Indiana with his parents in 1817, then being a lad of 18 years. His parents located on government land about eight miles north of here. In 1821, he married Miss Mary Atkins, a daughter of the pioneer minister, William Atkins. He soon after located where he now resides and purchased from the government 900 acres of land at $1.25 per acre. Nine children were born of his marriage, seven of whom are living. In 1882 his wife died and in 1884 he married Mrs. Jane (Miller) Lamb, but a few years later they separated. He is at present making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Floyd, who lives on a part of the homestead. Though he will soon be in his 96th year, his actions indicate many years younger. His sight and hearing are not much impaired by his old age and he bids fair to reach the century post.
