James

I am seeking any information on Thomas James born about 1745. He was in the Revolutionary War and is buried in the Hopewell cemetery.

Only info I have:
Married Jennings Co. IN
Polly James to Jacob Turkeyhiser 28 Aug 1827
John James to Marie Turkeyhiser 1826

father of Polly & John may be William James.

Thomas C. James was born about 1745 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary “Molly” Downey sometime between 1765 and 1770. They both came to Indiana to live with their son Thomas H. James, who married Sarah Harmon. All four individuals are buried at Hopewell Cemetery.
There is some erroneous information out there that Thomas C. James was born in Germany. This is not true and has evolved from the bad memory of an old, but well-meaning member of the James family, having passed away many years ago. I beleive Thomas C’s parents came to Washington County from Chester County, Penn, and the line goes back to England, NOT Germany.
Email me for more info.
