I am a researcher seeking information on the RILEY family of Jackson township, Orange county and probably Potaka township, Crawford county. The two areas are so close and some records indicate people born in one or the other counties. David Jackson Riley was born in Crawford county on 30 Aug 1862. His father, Joseph Shelton Riley was killed in the Civil War and he was raised by his mother, Susan Hill Riley who remarried a Thomas HUESTON in Crawford county. I would be interested in learning more about this HUESTON family as well as the living conditions of that part of the county in those post war years. Perhaps you know of others researching these lines who may respond. Keep up the good work.

I am looking for information to verify or disprove an oral family history. My G-G-Grandfather John HARPER md. Catherine Elizabeth CAMPBELL, both from NC. Their children were: Calvin, Elijah, Tom, Sarah (Sally), Alvin. They are listed as a family on the 1850,1860 Overton CO, TN census. Ca. 1864 Elijah came north to Mead Co., KY with a family name FREMMAN, he was 14 yr. old. Elijah Harper md. ca. 1878 Mead CO, KY to Emma COFFMAN (daughter of Abe Coffman). She (d) ca. 1898. Sarah Harper md. a man named SIDWELL and had three daughters (names unknown). Sarah and family, Tom and Calvin all came to KY over a period of years. Shortly after coming to KY Sarah died. Her husband and children returned to TN. Cal md. _____ BROWN, she had prior daughter named Ann SIMMONS Ann (m). Daniel BURNETT had daughter named Vi(Harper) Burnett. Vi was supposed daughter of Cal Harper. Cal had three legitimate daughters Vene, Lizzie, and _______ (?). Vene Harper md. Charlie Coffman. Vene had several sons two of whom were named Collin and Bernie. Lizzie Harper (m) Will MARTIN (they moved to Iowa). Some years later,Tom Harper came thorough KY on his way to Illinois. He wrote that he had settled there, rearing a family. Elajah md.-2nd. Georgia McCoy (ca) 1899 Hardin CO, KY. They had three children by this marriage : Lillie B., Alvin, & Hal. They were all members of the oNew Salem Baptist Church in what is now Rineyville, KY. A twenty year span of church records are missing, from (approx. 1860-80). If you can help with any of this information ,names, dates, what ever. Please let me know. Any help is appreciated.

Searching for my grandfather, James Augustus HARRIS, who enlisted in 50th Indiana Infantry Regiment in Laconia, Indiana in 1861. Claimed then to have been born in Hardin County, Kentucky (b 11/19/1845. d 11/9/1918). Married Laura Frances WEBB (b 8/11/1852, d 6/19/1950) and raised a family in Brandenburg, Meade County, Kentucky. Is said to have two brothers: Edward who died at Gettysburg and George who served with Confederates and came to James funeral (1918). In 1900 census, James stated he was born in Indiana?? Who are the ancestors of James, where did they live with dates? Please help me with my grandfather. Will gladly exchange info.

My 5ggf Reuben KEMP Is Bured near Alton Crawford Co.,Indiana his 4 child was Charles Kemp my 4ggf he married Elvina MARTIN on Mar. 07 1824 Crawford Co.He died in 1880 in Fredinia about 5 miles from Alton.
